Jason Thompson

Managing Director and CEO

Jason's 29 years' experience in the workers’ compensation and general insurance broking market provides a unique understanding of both industries. Jason leads the team at Work Health Options (WHO) with a customer service focused attitude.

His management expertise, insurance knowledge and network of relationships contribute to the teams’ vision "to be the leading innovator and premier health solution provider in the workers compensation insurance and people risk industry".

Jason's initial ten years with AMP, Mercantile Mutual and QBE allowed him to work in multiple areas including credit control, underwriting and also in the capacity as Marketing Executive which included business retention and development of corporate clients, insurance agents and brokers.

Jason worked closely with clients and their agents/brokers to help manage their workers' compensation, injury management and Work Health & Safety, whilst assisting the Branch Manager on strategic goals, financial outcome measures and general management issues.

The following fifteen years Jason was involved in the establishment and development of IC Frith's National Workers’ Compensation and General Broking units, which entailed continuously improving the service offering to their portfolio of clients at both a state and national level. After assuming the role as the NSW State Manager, he was then appointed National General Manager of Broking & Workers Compensation.

As Managing Director of Work Health Options, Jason drives the team at WHO to deliver an exceptional experience to our clients, both conventional and self-insured, in areas such as:

Jason is a Certified Insurance Professional (CIP) and a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF). He is also a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

Pauline McKenzie

Operations Manager

Pauline has over 24 years’ experience in the insurance broking industry. Pauline started her career at a professional suburban brokerage, where she gained a thorough understanding of all aspects of an insurance broking operation.

Her experience and knowledge progressed her career to that of an Account Broker, during which time she provided assistance for SME and Corporate accounts for IC Frith Insurance Brokers. This entailed building relationships with clients and underwriters, ensuring adequacy of insurance coverage, marketing and placement of insurance programmes, quality assurance and general servicing of clients’ portfolios.

In 2011 Pauline increased her responsibilities and accountabilities on a national basis which involved the development, training and maintenance of the broking system including the building and designing of all brokerage documentation.  In conjunction with the General Manager, Pauline also worked extensively and was key to the designing, testing, training, maintenance and roll out of a purpose-built Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. This was a national based system which took three years to build.

In 2014, whilst maintaining her responsibilities in relation to the national broking and CRM systems, Pauline was appointed Executive Assistant to the General Manager of Broking & Workers Compensation. Her duties were extended to include all facets of an assistant role to a senior executive/director, as well as providing support to all State Managers.

As a founding member of the team at Work Health Options, Pauline assumed similar accountabilities and responsibilities as our Operations Manager, extending her role to include:

  • I.T.
  • Marketing

Michelle Herkenrath

National Workers Compensation Account Manager

Michelle is a founding member of the team at Work Health Options (WHO), with over 24 years' experience in workers compensation.

In 2004, Michelle joined the IC Frith workers compensation team in its early stages of growth and was an integral part of the team throughout its development. During her time at IC Frith, Michelle advised clients in various industries, ranging from SME to large national and multinational organisations. These industries include national retail, building supplies, manufacturing, Australia's largest privately owned steel merchant, national transport/logistics and wholesaling, furniture manufacturing, electrical industry, hotel industry and flower wholesaling.

Michelle’s early experience as a Senior Case Manager for both commercial and corporate clients at Zurich and QBE provided a strong platform to succeed in her current role as National Workers Compensation Account Manager. Michelle’s in-depth national knowledge allows her to provide various services, which include:

  • Claims management/analysis
  • Return to Work Co-ordination
  • Premium negotiating nationally and limiting premium exposure
  • Adhoc advice on structure, medical networks and the like
  • Employer-training forums
  • Self-insurance and Comcare

Michelle has led the way with Work Health Options philosophy of becoming an extension of a clients' Human Resources, Industrial Relations and Work Health & Safety team. Michelle provides full claims management and is currently appointed RTW Co-ordinator for a number of national clients, involving liaising with General Practitioners, writing RTW plans, supporting injured workers and management teams.

Laura Manga

National Workers Compensation Account Manager

Laura is a founding member of the team at Work Health Options (WHO), bringing to the team over 18 years’ experience in the Workers Compensation industry. Laura's career began as a Case Manager with QBE, which involved managing national clients at a commercial and corporate level.

Laura built relationships with brokers and their portfolios, as well as clients on a direct basis. Her technical abilities allowed her to manage both high and low risk claims as well as working with a network of medical practitioners and rehabilitation providers. Laura is also a certified Return to Work Coordinator.

To broaden her industry experience, Laura was appointed in 2006 to the QBE NSW Underwriting team, where her dedication and expertise saw her promoted to Senior Underwriter/ Client Liaison Officer in the Specialised Accounts team. In this capacity, Laura was responsible for managing and servicing all portfolios for QBE’s top listing brokers.

Laura’s expertise and industry reputation adds value to the team at Work Health Options, bringing with her in-depth experience in the NSW workers compensation market and a strong service ethic with national clients and brokers.

Laura is responsible for providing comprehensive broking and claims management services, on a national basis, to direct clients as well as partnering weith general isnruance brokers, with responsibilities such as:-

  • Proactively managing ongoing assessment of claims
  • Liaising with all relevant third parties involved in a claim
  • Compiling claims reports for clients and/or brokers nationally
  • Claims influences on premium formula

Anna Puccio

National Workers Compensation Account Manager

Anna Puccio has over 19 years’ experience in the insurance industry specialising in workers’ compensation and occupational health & safety. Her expertise spans financial, transport, construction, retail, manufacturing and cleaning sectors, developing customised programs targeted at long term strategic workplace risk advice.

Anna Puccio has over 19 years’ experience in the insurance industry specialising in workers’ compensation and occupational health & safety. Her expertise spans financial, transport, construction, retail, manufacturing and cleaning sectors, developing customised programs targeted at long term strategic workplace risk advice.  Prior to joining WHO, Anna held lead the position of a national team of Multi National broking division.

Anna currently heads the Victorian division of the Work Health Options business, leading major national client renewals across all Australian States and Territories to achieve both financial and strategic outcomes. Anna also has experience in dealing with business with off shores employees, providing advice on employer liability covers and cross border provisions.

Anna’s developed, long standing relationships with all key Australian markets to achieve sustainable and mutual outcomes for insurers and clients alike.

Anna’s expertise and industry reputation adds value to the team at Work Health Options, bringing with her in-depth experience in the workers compensation market and a strong service ethic with national clients and brokers.

Allison Jedryhowski

National Workers Compensation Account Executive

Allison joined the WHO team after working directly with our portfolio of clients during her time as a Senior Case Manager at CGU and QBE.

Allison has over 15 years’ experience in the insurance industry, 10 of which were in the capacity of a Workers Compensation Senior Case Manager.  In this role, Allison managed up to 100 claims at any one time, depending on the severity and nature, supporting employers ranging from SME through to national corporates on both a direct and broker aligned basis.

Allison compliments our professional team as her claims management expertise includes:

  • Authority to accept and decline claims and treatment requests
  • Claim reviews with key stakeholders, linked with strategic goals for the employer
  • Case conferencing with injured workers, employers, medical providers and others
  • Achieving benchmark measures for final certificate of capacity hence increasing finalisation rates and reducing estimates

Leah Hanson

National Workers Compensation Account Broker

Leah’s career began at IAG in 2015 as a NSW Sales and Service Consultant, assisting clients with personal insurance.

Leah’s career began at IAG in 2015 as a NSW Sales and Service Consultant, assisting clients with personal insurance.  After 6 months of sales, Leah moved into a claims consultant role in their Retail Business Motor Claims department, where her duties included:

  • Lodgement of all claims, with end-to-end management of internal and third party claims
  • Accurately review all claims on compensation and ensure they are in accordance with the cover

Leah then joined NSW CGU Workers Compensation, providing management of claims with no time loss.  This role developed to include:

  • Partnering with medical and legal professionals to minimise loss severity and frequency
  • Attend file reviews with corporate leadership teams.

Following CGU’s decision to withdraw from the NSW Workers Compensation scheme in 2017, CGU offered Leah a case management role in their Victorian department.  This provided Leah with the unique opportunity to work within a second legislation.

Leah joined the Work Health Options Victorian team in 2018, providing national claims management and return to work services to our clients, with duties including:

  • Authority to accept and decline claims and treatment requests
  • Claim reviews with key stakeholders, linked with strategic goals for the employer
  • Case conferencing with injured workers, employers, medical providers and others
  • Return to Work Co-ordination

Musa Khan

National Workers Compensation Account Executive

Musa joined the team in 2019 and brings with him 8 years general insurance and workers compensation experience.

Musa started his career in general insurance claims before moving to personal injury claims, including working for State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) in NSW.  In this role, he was responsible for:

  • Liaising with injured workers, agents and legal representatives in relation to disputes
  • Determining validity of injuries and amount of compensation
  • Working with medical assessors to produce relevant reports including work capacity and mental assessment reports

Acting in his capacity as Case Manager, he joined Employers Mutual Limited, where his duties included:

  • Authority to accept and decline claims and treatment requests
  • Claim reviews with key stakeholders, linked with strategic goals for the employer
  • Case conferencing with injured workers, employers, medical providers and others

Musa further advanced his personal injury management experience moving to National Disability Insurance Agency where he reviewed simple and complex disability insurance plans which required approval in areas such as spinal, bone, soft tissue, psychological, as well as determining if it met with the relevant legislative requirements.

As National Workers Compensation Account Executive, Musa extends his national broking responsibilities to include:

Dion Nepia

National Workers Compensation Claims Adviser

Dion brings to the Work Health Options team 6 years’ experience in the social worker and work placement arena.

This experience aided his transition to working in the Treasured Managed Fund environment for 5 years, dealing with physical injuries and specialising in psychological.

In his role as Senior Case Manager, Dion worked for both QBE and Employers Mutual Limited, managing complex claims for the Department of Corrective Services NSW, Family & Community Services and NSW Police Force.  His responsibilities included:

  • Authority to accept and decline claims and treatment requests
  • Claim reviews with key stakeholders, linked with strategic goals for the employer
  • Case conferencing with injured workers, employers, medical providers and others
  • Achieving benchmark measures for final certificate of capacity hence increasing finalisation rates and reducing estimates

Dion extended his experience working for icare before acting as Return to Work Co-ordinator for a national employer.

Renasha Roop

National Workers Compensation Claims Adviser

Renasha joins the team at Work Health Options as National Claims Advisor, providing claims management and return-to-work services for our clients nationally.

Renasha’s career in workers compensation began at GIO in 2005.  Working as Claims Advisor within their corporate division for 8 years, her role developed to include duties such as:

  • Liaising with injured workers, employers and medical providers
  • Assisting in return-to-work for injured workers
  • Managing injury strategies

Renasha’s expertise in case management allowed her to take on the role of Health & Safety Directorate at the NSW Department of Education in 2015, where her duties, in addition to the above, were extended to include:

  • Providing advice and guidance to schools, working with department fund managers to drive return-to-work strategies
  • Identifying suitable duties

In 2017, Renasha joined Catholic Church Insurance, gaining workers compensation claims exposure to various industries including aged care, support workers, teachers etc.  In this role Renasha was responsible for:

  • Managing a portfolio of small to large clients
  • Determining liability
  • Managing treatment costs in accordance with legislative guidelines
  • Completing claims reviews and presenting at claims reviews with employers

  • Certificate III Assistant in Nursing

Matthew Panetta

National Workers Compensation Account Broker

In his role as National Account Broker, Matthew joins the Work Health Options team in a development role, supporting our teams nationally.

In 2017, whilst working towards obtaining his Bachelor of Accounting & Applied Finance, Matthew took on a role with Health & Injury Management Solutions, a claims management agent for self-insurance employers in Australia.  In this role, his responsibilities included:

  • Process claims payments to injured workers and providers
  • Liaise with treating doctors for accounting queries
  • Maintain database integrity
  • Compilation of claims data for compulsory reporting to SIRA
  • Adhoc advice to self-insured employers regarding their licence obligations
  • Analyse claims data to report trends etc
  • Assist in determining an employers' eligibility for a self-insurance licence

After two years in a self-insurance accounting role, Matthew was keen to further develop his career in workers compensation.  In particular, his aim is to broaden his skillset to include knowledge of national legislation, premium calculation and policy placement.  In his role supporting the Work Health Options team, Matthew’s duties include:

  • National policy placement
  • Premium calculations and projections
  • Reviewing classifications
